About
“US”
Steve
B. is originally a product of Cherry Hill, NJ where
he went to school and became a slave to the
construction industry, member of the volunteer fire
dept., and collector of the ever popular DUI until
1990. Steve then decided to take a geographic cure
and transplanted to Stuart, FL, until Dec. 5, 1994
with the nudge of a local judge, Steve began his
road to recovery at “His Place” halfway house in
Stuart.
Nance B. was home grown in North Haven, CT where she
was a bookkeeper for most of her life. Nance held
hostage three different husbands and three children
until 1990, when she set out to reinvent herself
with two children in tow to Palm City, FL. Nance
worked for the next ten years as a correctional
officer at a maximum security prison. When a doctor
declared that Nance had “blood in her alcohol” and
baker acted her to a treatment facility, she began
her road to recovery on March 11, 1996.
Steve and Nance met at an AA meeting in 1996. After
knowing each other for three years they starting
dating and were married on Jan. 6, 2000. This day
holds a special meaning to them both for the reading
in the 24 hour a day book.
Richard and Adrienne S. retired from their Plumbing
and Heating Company in New Jersey in 2005. They
moved to Jensen Beach, Florida where they were
immediately welcomed by the AA community.
Adrienne and Richard got sober together in 1989 and
have been married since 1970 (which is amazing).
One night at Steve and Nancy B.’s Friday night home
group (oops multiple home groups, still can’t follow
simple directions), Rich and Adrienne S. announced
that they had just moved here from New Jersey. We
exchanged hand shakes, hugs and of course dinner at
the meeting after the meeting. We immediately became
best of friends and went every where together
including fishing, motorcycling and vacations to
Costa Rica.
On a vacation trip to Costa Rica in 2006, the four
of us were shown a piece of property for sale, and
the wheels starting turning to the crazy idea of
building a sober resort. Thus begins the story of
the ”Fourth Dimension Resort”.
Since then Steve and Nance B. have liquidated all
their assets in Florida, and like two good
alcoholics, dove head first into living in Costa
Rica, where they oversee the daily operations of the
lodge and development of the resort site.
Richard and Adrienne remain in Florida where they
operate a sober home for women in recovery. Adrienne
also works at the local Intergroup Office. They will
be joining Steve and Nance in a few years.
We love Alcoholics Anonymous and wish to share our
joy for the fellowship and life with our AA family.
Please join us on our journey to the Fourth
Dimension. |
